In Belgium, import declarations are filed in IDMS and export declarations in AES. In Ireland, imports go through AIS and exports through AES. These systems apply the Union Customs Code rules, with their own offices and checks. Check your declaration before filing it.
Which system for which flow?

Common errors
- Customs office that does not belong to the filing country (BE or IE)
- Procedure code inconsistent with the direction of the flow

Frequently asked questions
Has IDMS replaced PLDA in Belgium?
Yes. IDMS took over from PLDA for import declarations under the Union Customs Code. Exports go through AES.
What is the difference between AIS and AES in Ireland?
AIS receives import declarations and AES export declarations. Both are run by Revenue.
Can I check Belgian and Irish declarations with the same tool?
Yes. You choose the filing country and the direction of the flow, and the offices and rules checked adapt accordingly.
Is my data sent to customs?
No. The check is independent of the authorities and does not file any declaration.
