Terms of use

These terms apply to any use of the Customs Check website: the customs file checker, the free tools, accounts and the public API. By using the site, you accept them.

Updated Oct 5, 2026

The service

Customs Check is a free tool that helps prepare import and export files: it flags missing information, inconsistencies and invalid formats, then produces a score and a report. The publisher, presented in the legal notice, may change, suspend or stop all or part of the service.

What the service does not do

  • It files no declaration and is not connected to any customs authority system.
  • Its result is neither a decision nor a validation by the authorities: a good score guarantees neither the acceptance of a declaration nor the absence of a control.
  • It checks the format and consistency of customs codes, not the tariff classification of your goods.
  • It does not replace the advice of a customs representative or adviser.

Anyone who provides information to customs remains responsible for its accuracy and completeness (Article 15 of the Union Customs Code).

Your use

  • Use the service for your own operations or your clients', in compliance with applicable laws.
  • Only upload documents you are entitled to share, free of malware.
  • Do not bypass usage limits or try to access other users' data.
  • Do not extract the site's content automatically, other than through the public API.

Account

An account is optional and free. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for the checks run from your account. You can ask for it to be deleted at any time through the help centre. An account used abusively or against these terms may be suspended.

Public API

  • API keys are personal and confidential: at most three active keys per account, and 500 checks per key per day.
  • The API is provided with no commitment on availability or response time. Quotas may change, and a key used abusively may be revoked.
  • The content of checks received through the API is deleted after 30 days, or not stored at all if the request asks so.

Data and documents

You remain the owner of the information and documents you enter or upload. How they are processed, how long they are kept and your rights are described in the privacy policy. Usage statistics drawn from checks cannot identify you.

Liability

The service is provided free of charge and as is. The rules it applies are updated with care, but they may contain errors or not reflect the latest texts. To the extent permitted by law, the publisher is not liable for the consequences of a declaration, a delay, a control, duties, taxes or penalties linked to the use of the service. These terms do not limit any liability that the law forbids limiting.

Intellectual property

The site, its texts, its checking engine and its graphic elements are protected. You may freely use the reports it produces for your own operations. The official texts quoted belong to their authors and remain subject to their own reuse conditions.

Changes to these terms

These terms may change; the date of the last update is shown on this page. The applicable version is the one online when you use the service.

Governing law

These terms are governed by French law. In case of disagreement, we will first seek an amicable solution; failing that, the competent French courts will have jurisdiction. For any question, write to us through the help centre.
