Find or check a customs office

Type a town, a port or an office code (FR002300): the tool searches the European Commission's Customs Office List and shows the office's roles, modes of transport and address. The search runs in your browser.

Enter an office code, a town or a port.

What the tool shows

For each office, the tool gives what a declaration asks for:

  • the reference number: 8 characters, starting with the country code (FR002300 for Le Havre Port)
  • the roles: release for free circulation, export, entry, exit, transit. An office only takes a declaration for the roles it has
  • the modes of transport it handles: sea, air, road, rail, inland waterway, post
  • the address, phone and e-mail published by the national administration, and a link to the Commission's page for opening hours

Why the office code matters

A well-formed code can match no office, or an office without the role you need: the declaration may then be rejected when filed.

The Customs Check file checker applies the same list to the office fields of DELTA IE, IDMS, DMS, H7 and ENS files: an office missing from the list is an error, an office without the expected role a warning.

The limits of the list

The Commission publishes this list from data supplied by national administrations, for information only. Customs Check renews its copy every month: an office created since then may be missing, and only customs can confirm that an office accepts your declaration. The Commission does not publish closures: a closed office simply leaves the list. The British offices on it are those of common transit; codes of the CDS system are not included.

Frequently asked questions

How do I read a customs office code?

Two letters for the country, then six characters chosen by the national administration. Northern Ireland uses XI, the United Kingdom GB.

Which office goes on an import declaration?

The one where the goods are presented and cleared, usually near the place of arrival or your warehouse. It must have the release for free circulation or placement role; your forwarder or customs can confirm.

Is the search free?

Yes, with no sign-up. It runs in your browser: what you type is not sent to our servers.

Is your file ready?
